On a recent adventure to find a place to call home in New Orleans, our wonderful real estate broker suggested that we needed to stop for a drink. Where he would stop would cause a love at first sight reaction from the team at The Sweat Social and numerous subsequent visits. Nestled near beautiful City Park and Bayou St. John (home to oldest grove of mature weeping oak trees in the world) lives the Pearl Wine Co. Started by Leora Pearl, the establishment is part wine/liquor store, part bar in an amazing combination that works beautifully. We like to start in the retail store and peruse the selection of craft beers, ciders, liquor and elegant wines. Even the biggest booze snob is sure to find something to his or her liking here (The Pearl Wine Co. has the largest selection of small production beer, wine and liquor in New Orleans). Purchase your selection at retail prices, then head over to the bar, have a seat in the plush ambience and give your selection a taste. Wasn't dry enough for you? Too hoppy? Ask the bartender to make a recommendation and pour you something more to your liking. Don't be afraid to sit a while and chat over a couple craft cocktails. Then go buy a couple more bottles back at the liquor store on your way home. Consider taking the street car or a cab instead of driving.
The Pearl Wine Co. is located in Mid City at 3700 Orleans Ave #1c, New Orleans, LA 70119. They host wine tastings and chef prepared food pairings every Thursday and Friday. For more, visit them at The Pearl Wine Co.
Drink responsibly friends.
